My Nana kept the poem,
Normal Day by Mary Jean Irion, at her bedside. I imagine she referred to it, as do I, as reminder not to pass over the precious gifts, and fortunate opportunities that each new day brings. Since our lifetime is merely a collection of normal days, to find gratitude in each day, is to create a life filled by abundant treasure.

Some days, uncovering those gifts and opportunities, are more difficult to spot than others. Especially when circumstances can disrupt my peace, or bring sorrow. On those days, it is easy to get lost in worry and gloom, and lose sight of the day’s hidden treasures. Still, like a lighthouse in the fog , even in the midst of life’s storms, affirmations of goodness and love will always guide us through the darkness.
